The Atlanta Braves have signed Felix Pie to a minor league contract, reports Dave O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Pie had been playing with the independent Camden River Sharks this spring; he was hitting an impressive .360. The Braves signed the 27-year-old outfielder and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett, where he'll be available for tonight's game against Toledo.
Pie, who broke into pro baseball as an undrafted free agent signed by the Chicago Cubs in 2001, has played five major league seasons split between the Cubs and the Baltimore Orioles. He hit .220 for the O's last year, with zero home runs in 164 at-bats.
