Roy Oswalt is nearing a comeback and has thrown bullpen sessions for the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox, according to FOXSports.com. He could sign with a team within the next week.

Oswalt, 34, went unsigned in free agency this winter. He has continued working out in the hopes of catching on with a team midseason, and he now appears to be nearing that point. A source told FOX that Oswalt appeared to be in good shape, though not quite regular-season form.

Oswalt went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts for the Phillies last season. He missed six weeks due to back injuries. In 11 seasons in the major leagues, Oswalt is 159-93 with a 3.21 ERA.
