Among the biggest pieces of news from the Miami Heat's win over the Boston Celtics in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals Monday was the ineffectiveness of Ray Allen. The future hall-of-fame shooting guard shot 1-for-7 including a 1-for-4 mark from three point range, scoring six points and struggling to deal with Miami's high-powered offense.

Allen has been dealing with bone spurs in both ankles throughout the playoffs, and Celtics coach Doc Rivers told ESPN's Jackie MacMullan that he may rest Allen to give him a chance to get healthier.

“It’s a tough call with him,” Rivers said Tuesday afternoon. “We’re trying to figure out a different minute rotation for him, maybe that will help him. We’re even considering sitting him for a game, getting him a longer rest and then playing him, and then sitting him for a game. We don’t know what the right thing is.”

One of the most prolific shooters in NBA history, Allen owns the records for most regular season three-pointers made and attempted. He won an NBA Championship with the Celtics in 2008.
