The Super Bowl champion New York Giants have extended the contract of head coach Tom Coughlin through the 2014 season, reports the Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo on Twitter.

The 65-year-old Coughlin has coached the Giants for eight seasons, leading them to the 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl titles. The team is 74-54 in the regular season and 8-3 in the postseason under his watch. As an assistant for New York under Bill Parcells, Coughlin helped direct the franchise to the Super Bowl XXV title. Coughlin has also previously been a head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
