Chad Ochocinco got his wish. The free-agent wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has signed with the Miami Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday night.
Ochocinco actually first announced the news on his website, the Ochocinco News Network:
We just got confirmation from Chad Ochocinco that he has just signed with the Miami Dolphins. The 6 time Pro Bowler will now get a chance to finish his career in his home state. More details as they arrive.
Earlier Monday, the Dolphins confirmed they had worked out Ochocinco recently. Dolphins running back Reggie Bush told NFL Total Access that he would "love to have him" on the Dolphins.
“If we are able to get him on our team, I feel like he can bring a lot of wisdom and knowledge from a veteran standpoint. So, if we can get him, we’d love to have him. If not, then we’re just going to have to move on without him,” Bush said. “I think he has a lot left in the tank. If we can get him on our team, I think that would be great for us.”
Ochocinco has roots in South Florida, and he attended Miami Beach High School. For the Dolphins, it brings some star power to the organization. Ochocinco had a dismal season in 2011 in his only year with the New England Patriots. He caught only 15 passes for 276 yards and had only one catch in the Patriots’ 21-17 Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.
