Since no one knows exactly what the definition of an elite quarterback is, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten took a few minutes out of his day to tell the Abilene Reporter-News that his quarterback Tony Romo is indeed one of the best in the NFL. New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning famously said before last season that he was "elite" and then backed it up with a second Super Bowl title.

"(Tony Romo is) a phenomenal, cool quarterback," said Witten. "He's an elite quarterback. But until we win the big game, the criticism is going to come. … He was up there among the top five in quarterbacks this year. That's just the way it goes. You can't cry about it."
In arguably his best season, Romo threw for 4,184 yards along with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2011. The Cowboys finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
