Hitchcock took over the Blues after the team fired coach Davis Payne in November.

Under Hitchcock, St. Louis went 43-15-11, won the Central Division and earned the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The Blues beat the San Jose Sharks in the first round but fell to the Los Angeles Kings, the eventual Stanley Cup champions, in the second.
