New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly 20 years, reports The Times-Picayune's Ryan Jones.
Jones' report is based on a divorce petition filed in Tarrant County, Texas on June 14. The grounds of divorce are listed as "discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."
In a counter-petition filed June 26, Beth Payton sought custody of the couple's two children and requested the Saints coach pay support for the children and their medical expenses.
Payton was suspended for the entire NFL season for his alleged role in the Saints' bounty scandal.
