The Detroit Lions have made headlines this offseason for nothing that has to do with football.  The majority of the headlines have come when their players have run afoul of the law.

One of those players, defensive tackle Nick Fairley, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana in April after police say they found two partially smoked joints in his vehicle.  He was arrested again the next month on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol while driving 100 m.p.h. Fairley was charged with reckless driving and attempting to elude police.

Fairley was at a kickball tournament for kids ages 8-12 in Detroit when he was asked by the Detroit Free Press if he was still worthy of being trusted with influencing children.

“Because I’m a great guy,” Fairley said. “Simple as that.”
