With Ray Allen taking his talents to South Beach, the Boston Celtics have been forced to re-stock at the shooting guard position this offseason. They have already added former Dallas Maverick Jason Terry, and now Courtney Lee tells The Boston Globe that he would love to play for Doc Rivers in Beantown.

“Me and Doc, we’ve always had a relationship since I’ve been in the NBA,” he said. “I’m a friend of both of his kids, Austin and Jeremiah. We work out together, always see each other. Me and Doc always speak. There’s interest there, but there was no verbal agreement or anything, just hearing each other out. He expressed his interest. I expressed my interest.

“It’s not basketball-wise that needs to be discussed, it’s the front office and my agent that needs to communicate and go from there.”

Unfortunately for Lee and the Celtics, that's where the roadblocks occur. The Celtics do not currently have enough cap room to sign Lee at his market salary, so they would need to work out a sign-and-trade deal with Lee's former team - the Houston Rockets.

If that doesn't work out, Lee will still be in demand. He told The Globe that more than eight other teams are interested in him.
