The Cincinnati Reds are discussing a potential trade with the Chicago Cubs for starting pitcher Matt Garza, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Monday night.

The Reds, on top of the National League Central by three games and winners of 10 of their last 11 games, want to solidify their rotation heading into the stretch run of the season.

Garza is injured with an upper-arm strain and will not pitch until after Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline. But both the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers have expressed interest in the 28-year-old in addition to the Reds.

Rosenthal lines up the Reds' potential postseason rotation with Garza, who is 5-7 with a 3.91 ERA this season:

Right-hander Johnny Cueto likely would be the Reds’ Game 1 starter if they reached the postseason. Garza could start Game 2, and righty Mat Latos Game 3.

The Cubs are in the midst of a fire sale, having traded away catcher Geovany Soto, outfielder Reed Johnson and pitcher Paul Maholm on Monday. They are also in trade talks regarding starting pitcher Ryan Dempster and outfielder Alfonso Soriano.
