Report: Santonio Holmes may have broken rib

The New York Jets seem to be in the news every day, whether it is good or bad.

Head coach Rex Ryan says that wide receiver Santonio Holmes injured his ribs, reports ESPN.com.

Holmes had X-rays Saturday night and they came back negative and he is day-to-day

"I don't know if Santonio broke a rib or not, but the fact that it was sticking out was probably an indicator," Ryan said earlier. "He's a tough guy, but I don't think he going to be running out there tomorrow or the next day."

Holmes, who will be entering his third season with the Jets, caught 51 passes and eight touchdowns last season. He had 654 yards and a 12.8 yards per reception average, both career lows.
