University of Connecticut men's basketball coach Jim Calhoun fractured his hip while biking and will undergo surgery later tonight, the school said.

No other details were released about his condition.

CBSSports.com reports Calhoun was riding mid-afternoon Saturday near his summer home in Madison, Conn., when he hit a patch of dirt and his feet became entangled in the pedals. He fell to the ground, couldn't get up and called his wife. He was then transported to a local hospital.

Calhoun, 70, will be in his 27th season coaching the Huskies. The Huskies are ineligible for postseason play in 2012-13 because of low APR scores.
