Reigning Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek will return to competitive figure skating with the goal of making the 2014 Olympic team, he announced Friday on the TODAY Show (via the Chicago Tribune's Philip Hersh).

Last September, Lysacek said he would try to make the 2014 Olympic team, but a contract dispute with U.S. Figure Skating stalled his comeback. Hersh reports that Lysacek had changed agents in the interim, which helped him to work through his contractual issues. Now, he should have plenty of time to prepare for the Olympic Trials.
