Houston Texans offensive tackle Rashad Butler is out for the season after tearing the triceps in his right arm, reports the Houston Chronicle's John McClain.
Butler had lost a competition to start at right tackle and was slated to be a backup.
McClain reports that Andrew Gardner is now slotted into the role of "swing tackle," though the team could look to add a veteran.
“He had a good camp,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. “We’ve got to find a way to work through (Butler’s injury)."
