Nashville, Tenn. authorities on Monday charged Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White with vandalism of $500 or less for trashing a Nashville hotel room, according to the Associated Press.

A hotel employee saw White break a phone and according to, White then pulled several fire alarms in the process. White suffered a head laceration while running from hotel staff when confronted.

White was arrested for public intoxication and vandalism and was taken to a hospital for treatment first before being booked into jail. White was charged after given an opportunity to sign a misdemeanor citation, but refused. White, 26, is a two-time defending Winter Olympic halfpipe snowboarding champion.
