The Texas Rangers' 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels Tuesday night included Major League Baseball home run leader Josh Hamilton on the bench complaining of severe vision problems that may or may not have been sinus-related.

The Rangers also sought to clear up any misconceptions about Hamilton on Wednesday. The problem was originally reported as “sinus issues,” but club officials clarified after the game that the real source of concern was the blurred vision. That is why manager Ron Washington removed Hamilton as soon as the outfielder reported the problem.

The Rangers on Wednesday said the symptoms were consistent with sinus-related issues but that nothing sinus-related had been confirmed.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram Rangers beat writer Jeff Wilson tweeted Hamilton still hopes to play in this weekend's series in Seattle, though it seems unlikely that he will play in tonight's series opener.

After a torrid start to the 2012 season, Hamilton has been inconsistent but still ranks among league leaders in RBIs. Hamilton's off-the-field incidents have also factored into the likelihood that he will enter the free agent market after the 2012 season.

ESPN's Buster Olney reported this week that the Rangers may benefit from a seemingly limited market for Hamilton's services during the next free agent period.
