Who said nobody watches golf?

This year's edition of the Ryder Cup, which was won by Europe in thrilling comeback fashion, drew NBC the highest ratings the event has had since 1999, according to a report from deadline.com.

Overnight ratings for the broadcast gave it a 4.1/9 rating, meaning that 4.1% of all U.S. homes with a TV set were tuned in to the Ryder Cup, while 9% of all those watching TV at the time were watching the competition. The numbers represent a 71% viewership increase over the last edition of the match in 2010, which drew a 2.4/7.

It is also the event's highest rating since 1999, when it drew a 6.3/15.

ESPN's Darren Rovell tweeted additional insight into where those viewers came from today: https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/252812365798719489
