The New York Jets signed receiver Jason Hill on Wednesday, possibly bracing for the news that leading receiver Santonio Holmes will most likely miss the remainder of the season because of a Lisfrance injury, reports CBSSports.com.

Hill, 27, was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and was released by the Denver Broncos at the end of their training camp this season.

Hill has career marks of 70 receptions for 967 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hill is the same player that called Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis "overhyped" last season and Revis responded by saying "I don't even know who that dude is."
