Report: More NBA players following LeBron James' exit from CAA
More NBA players are following LeBron James' recent fast break from one of the league's biggest player agencies.
Denver Nuggets point-guard Ty Lawson is the latest player to leave Creative Artists Agency, according to a report by ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst.
Lawson could be the fourth NBA player to leave CAA after James' departure last month.
In addition, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Tristan Thompson, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Eric Bledsoe and the San Antonio Spurs’ Cory Joseph also filed paperwork to leave CAA, according to league sources.
The timing is especially crucial for Lawson, who is in the midst of contract extension talks with the Nuggets following a career year.
James left CAA to join a new sports agency run by his childhood friend and former CAA agent Rich Paul. All four of the recent CAA defectors are believed to be leaning toward Paul's new agency. CAA negotiated James' NBA basketball contracts including the six-year, $110 million deal he signed with the Miami Heat in 2010.
