Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton: 50/50 chance I will return to team

Fresh off being eliminated in the wild card playoff, Texas Rangers center fielder and upcoming free-agent Josh Hamilton said he hasn't thought about the possibility of playing his last game in Texas.

Hamilton was asked if he would be back with the Rangers next season, he said, “I have no clue," according to the Dallas Morning News.

Hamilton then told reporters that he thinks it’s a 50/50 chance he will return.

“I would always love to stay here,” Hamilton said. “They understand that and they know that. When we talked earlier in the year, we didn’t get things worked out, so we said we’d wait until the year was over and they obviously get the first shot."

Hamilton went 0-4 and was greeted with boos as the Rangers were eliminated  in the one-game wild card game by the Baltimore Orioles 5-1, ending their season after blowing a four-game division lead with six games to go. Hamilton hit .285 with 43 home runs and 128 RBI in his fifth season with the club.

“But we’ll see what happens. I’ve enjoyed my last five years here, playing with these guys," Hamilton said. "It’s been the most fun I’ve ever had in my life playing baseball. To the fans, it’s been a good run, no matter if you send me off with boos or not, I still love you.”
