TCU quarterback Casey Pachall has left school to receive care at a drug and alcohol treatment facility, the Star-Telegram reported Tuesday afternoon. Pachall was arrested last week on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and suspended indefinitely by the team's coach, Gary Patterson. Patterson said the treatment programs typically last between 30 to 60 days and Pachall could re-enroll in the spring and join the team.

"We want to make sure we can make this turn into a positive," Patterson said. "Casey's parents, Casey and I, we all agreed that there was only one way to change the path he was on--to step away from it."

The news surprised many, including SI's Andy Staples: Pachall, a junior, started every game in 2011 and set school records for yards and completions.
