More specifics have emerged about the horrific knee injury suffered by South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, after Gamecocks Head Coach Steve Spurrier addressed the issue in a press conference today.

Spurrier told reporters that Lattimore suffered a dislocated knee cap, but did not address whether the junior sustained any bone or ligament damage in the area. Spurrier did say, however, that he expects Lattimore to play football again, though he may not be able to do so until 2014.

Lattimore has not red shirted thus far in his collegiate career, so in theory he could sit out next year and come back for the Gamecocks in 2014. Lattimore was averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season, and has scored 11 rushing touchdowns.
