UPDATE at 10:34 pm

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted that the previously reported trade sending Dan Haren from the Angels to the Cubs for reliever Carlos Marmol is now off:

The Los Angeles Angels have traded pitcher Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs for reliever Carlos Marmol according to Mike DiGiovanna of The Los Angeles Times.

The Angels had been shopping Haren after he finished 12-13 with a 4.33 ERA in 30 starts in what was considered a sub-par season. Marmol posted 20 saves and a 3.42 ERA in 61 appearances in 2012 and has saved 115 games in six seasons with the Cubs.
