All-time saves leader Mariano Rivera told Yankees general manager Brian Cashman that he wants to play next season.

“Rivera contacted us and wants to play,” Cashman told The New York Post.

Rivera made $15 million last season and would have to come to a deal to remain with the Yankees. Cashman said he plans to have contract talks with Rivera next week. Rivera missed most of the 2012 season with a torn ACL and said he wanted to return but over the past few weeks had backed off from that stance.
