Former American League MVP Josh Hamilton wants to continue getting paid like an MVP, according to a tweet from Baseball Prospectus' John Perrotto.
Hamilton, currently a free agent, has played the last five seasons with the Texas Rangers and has been named an All-Star in each of those seasons. Hamilton hit a career-high 43 home runs in 2012 to go along with a .285 batting average. Hamilton won the AL MVP award in 2010, but his production has dipped across the board in many categories other than home runs.
It is unlikely the Rangers will be able to meet a seven year, $175 million demand, meaning Hamilton could easily wind up in another uniform next season.
