Mike Brown's son receives threats on Twitter

The frustrations of many Lakers fans during the team's 1-4 start has been directed at coach Mike Brown. Some Lakers fans have gone to extremes by threatening Brown's son, Elijah, on Twitter, according to the Orange County Register.

Mike Brown was unaware of the threats directed at his son, a basketball player at Mater Dei High School, even though he has arranged for a friend to monitor his son's Twitter account.

“That’s news to me,” Brown said after Thursday’s practice. “I will alert Lakers security.

“That’s the tough part about this business. To go after somebody’s family or something like that is, in my opinion, just ridiculous. It’s stupid, crazy, whatever you want to call it. They (family members) have nothing to do with what’s going on right now.”

Elijah Brown appeared to take the threats in stride:

Lakers family members reached out via Twitter to defend and support Elijah Brown. Kristen Blake, wife of Lakers guard Steve Blake wrote:
