The Baseball Writers Association of America named Miguel Cabrera the 2012 American League Most Valuable Player.
Cabrera became the first player to win the Triple Crown since Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox won it in 1967, leading the AL in all three major categories by hitting .330 with 44 home runs and 139 RBI. Cabrera also led the A.L. in OPS at .999 and total bases with 377.
