Danica Patrick divorcing husband Paul Hospenthal
Danica Patrick said on Tuesday that she and her husband, Paul Hospenthal, were ending their seven-year marriage. Patrick made the announcement on her Facebook page:
"I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."
Hospenthal is a physical therapist; the two met when he was treating Patrick for a nonracing injury. Patrick is 17 years younger than Hospenthal--she turned 30 in March. The couple married in 2005. Patrick just completed her first full NASCAR season. She finishing 10th in Nationwide points and broke Sara Christian's 1949 record for the highest-finishing female driver in the history of NASCAR's three national series.
