Michael Vick cleared for exercise, begins phase two of concussion recovery

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has moved into the second phase of concussion recovery, reports CSN Philly. The team's trainer, Rick Burkholder, confirmed the news through an Eagles spokesman.

Vick suffered a concussion in a game against the Cowboys on Nov. 11 and hasn't practiced or played since.

During the first phase of concussion recovery, a player cannot exercise at all. But Vick passed the NFL's mandated ImPACT test (which measures brain activity before and after a concussion) and was on a bike machine in the weight room on Wednesday morning.

An appearance in Monday night's game against the Panthers for Vick is unlikely, however: He won't be able to play in a game or even practice until being cleared by a league-approved neurologist and Gary Dorshimer, the team's internist and a concussion specialist.

Rookie Nick Foles started in Vick's place on Sunday when the Eagles lost 31-6 to the Redskins. Eagles coach Andy Reid has remained emphatic that Vick will return as the team's starting quarterback when he's healthy.
