The Philadelphia Eagles' will be without wide receiver DeSean Jackson for the rest of the season. Head coach Andy Reid confirmed in a press conference Tuesday that the wide receiver will need six weeks to recover from fractured ribs, an injury he sustained in a 30-22 loss on Monday night against the Carolina Panthers.

Reid, who is widely believed to be on his way out of Philadelphia since taking over as head coach in 1999, said that despite all of the injuries, there's no excuse for their forgettable 3-8 record:

“Injuries are not an excuse for our record. The next guy plays. There are no excuses. Hopefully you have the character on the team where guys will fight to the end. You saw that last night. We’re just not getting it done.”

The loss is no doubt a blow to an Eagles team that has seen its share of adversity this season, including Reid's own son being found dead at training camp in August in what was reported in October as a heroin overdose.

Jackson leads the team with 45 catches on 700 yards. Reid also said that quarterback Michael Vick has not been cleared by doctors to play after suffering a concussion and that left tackle Jason Peters is definitely out for the remainder of the season. Peters' replacement, King Dunlap, is not expected back at practice any time soon as he continues to rehab an MCL sprain. Reid added that LeSean McCoy is still in the early stages of post-concussion recovery.
