This was Johnson's first season with the Golden Eagles, and the team finished 0-12, the worst in school history. Johnson also had short coaching stints at The Citadel (three seasons, 12-22) and Garner-Webb (one season, 5-6). Early on Monday, Southern Miss President Aubrey Lucas said the football program was being reviewed, but he declined to comment about Johnson at the time. Johnson met with members of the team and Athletic Director Jeff Hammond on Monday afternoon. When asked about the meeting, an assistant sports information director said, "There is nothing to talk about."
