Browns statement: Jon Gruden not offered an ownership stake in the team

WREG-TV in Memphis Tennessee reported Tuesday night that MNF analyst Jon Gruden has received a coaching offer from the University of Tennessee. As part of the offer, per the report, Gruden would get an ownership stake in the Cleveland Browns. While this might make sense because owner Jimmy Haslam is a Tennessee grad and booster, the Browns adamantly deny the claim.
Browns Vice President of Media Relations Neil Gulkis released the official statement.
"Jimmy Haslam has no involvement in the University of Tennessee head coaching search, and the report that Jon Gruden would potentially have an ownership stake in the Browns is completely erroneous."
