In her first public appearance since marrying former NFL player Jerramy Stevens the day after his arrest, U.S. soccer star Hope Solo quelled rumors that she and Stevens were involved in a domestic violence incident.

Speaking to reporters following a U.S. women's soccer team practice, Solo said she was never hit during the incident, which occurred in the early morning on Nov. 12, and that the media rendered judgements before the facts were known.

"That's a hard truth, and it's part of life.I'm happy. I'm happily married. I would never stand for domestic violence. I've never been hit in my life. It's unfortunate, but that's what the media can do.

"I'm happy in my life. I know the people closest to me are the only ones who really know what happened. The facts are out there if people really want to find them out -- they can go and find them out in the police report. But I would never stand for domestic violence. I won't read any of the negative things about me or my husband. Like I said, we're happy, and ultimately that's all that really matters."

Reports following Stevens' arrest indicated that he and Solo got into an altercation after arguing about where they would live after they got married.

Solo's brother, Marcus, and several males who were uninvited guests to the Kirkland, Wash., house were also involved in the incident. Hope Solo emerged with blood on her elbow, according to reports, while Stevens was arrested for fourth-degree assault. He was never charged and was cleared in the case, but was arrested again on Wednesday for a violation of his probation, according to ProFootballTalk.

The U.S. women's soccer team plays Ireland at the University of Phoenix on Saturday.
