After six seasons, FIU has fired coach Mario Cristobal. The Panters were 3-9 this year, a season Athletic Director Pete Garcia called "a total collapse." Although widely picked to win the Sun Belt, the Panthers' performance disappointed. Garcia said the program needs to go in a different direction. To start, FIU will move to Conference USA next season.
Although Cristobal was 27-47 with the Panthers, he did lead the team to their first two bowl appearances. For now, there's no word on what direction FIU will take with coaching.
