Krasnick reports that Schierholtz spurned offers from the New York Mets as well as the entire American League East, minus the Toronto Blue Jays.

An outfielder with strong defensive skills, Schierholtz spent most of last season with the San Francisco Giants before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies with just under 40 games left to play. Between the two teams, Schierholtz batted .273 with five RBIs and a solitary home run.
