University of Texas sophomore guard Myck Kabongo has been suspended by the NCAA for the remainder of the season, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports. Kabongo is widely considered to be the Longhorns' best player and a likely 1st round NBA draft pick.

Kabongo has been under investigation by the NCAA due to allegations he received improper benefits via his relationship with NBA agent Rich Paul, who represents the Miami Heat's LeBron James as well as former Longhorn and current Cavalier Tristan Thompson. The center of the investigation was a trip Kabongo took to Cleveland last spring to work out with NBA trainer Jerry Powell. At issue was who paid for Kabongos travel expenses and whether or not Powell was paid for his services.

While suspensions for improper benefits usually range from three to 10 games, Yahoo! reports that the suspension was extended to the whole season due to Kabongo's providing false information to the NCAA during the course of the investigation.
