Redskins' Robert Griffin III reportedly cleared by doctors to start on Sunday

Doctors have cleared Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III to start Sunday's game against the Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The doctors' clearance represents the final anticipated step in Griffin's recovery from a sprained right knee, which he suffered two weeks ago.

Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins started the Redskins' game in Cleveland last week, defeating the Browns to move into a tie for first place in the NFC East. On Wednesday, Griffin practiced fully for the first time since the injury, as Cousins took all of the practice reps with the first team last week.

Locked in a three-way tie for the division lead with the 8-6 Cowboys and Giants, Washington holds the tiebreaker over both teams and thus can win the NFC East with victories in its final two games -- Sunday in Philadelphia and next week at home against Dallas.

Griffin, a rookie of the year candidate with 18 touchdowns to just four interceptions, is looking to lead the Redskins to their first playoff appearance since 2007.
