Report: Eagles, Cardinals to interview Jay Gruden for coaching vacancy

The Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles will interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden this week for each of their respective head coaching vacancies, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported Sunday. Jay Gruden, the younger brother of former NFL head coach and current ESPN commentator Jon Gruden, has worked as the Bengals offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
After last season, Gruden declined interview overtures from the St. Louis Rams before signing a three-year, $3.6 million extension to remain with the Bengals. But this year, La Canfora reported that Gruden could be a candidate for the San Diego Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have not yet decided whether they will keep coach Mike Mularkey.
Gruden worked as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under his brother from 2002-08. After that, he moved on to the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League before reentering the NFL with the Bengals in 2011.
As the Bengals offensive coordinator, Gruden has helped lead the team to two consecutive playoff appearances with young quarterback Andy Dalton. Cincinnati ranked 12th overall in points per game this season. However, Bengals finished just 22nd in total yards.
