Report: Jets to interview Steelers exec Omar Khan, ex-Bears GM Jerry Angelo

UPDATE: The Jets will also interview former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo, according to a source and Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News.

The Bears fired Angelo in January 2012.

The Jets will interview Pittsburgh Steelers director of football and business administration Omar Khan for their open general manager job according to a source via Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News.

Khan, who received a promotion from coordinator to director during the offseason, has been the Steelers' chief contract negotiator and salary cap manager, and a team employee since 2001. He has recently been credited with keeping the Steelers competitive and under the salary cap while signing several key players to long-term contracts including safety Troy Polamalu.

Khan, 35, has been linked to other general manager positions in the past, including the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and the St. Louis Rams in February 2012.

He has also been tied to speculation regarding ex-Steelers coach Bill Cowher's possible return to the NFL.
