Manti Te'o gives off-camera interview to ESPN

Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o gave an off-camera interview to ESPN Friday night, his first comments outside of a statement he released earlier this week.

ESPN's public relations department released a photo of Te'o being interviewed by ESPN's Jeremy Schaap. Te'o's lawyer was also present at the interview.

ESPN said audio clips of the interview would be available on the network later on a SportsCenter broadcast after the Oklahoma City Thunder-Dallas Mavericks basketball game.

Te'o has been in Bradenton, Fla. training for the NFL Draft since the story broke about a hoax being played on him in regards to a fake girlfriend that he and many media outlets said had died in September.

"To realize that I was the victim of what was apparently someone's sick joke and constant lies was, and is, painful and humiliating," Te'o said in part of statement he released this week.
