Report: Eagles decision on Michael Vick won't come by important date

The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly won't be making a decision on their long-term plans regarding quarterback Michael Vick.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported Monday that the Eagles will not decide whether to keep or release Vick by Feb. 6. That date is important because if Vick is on the roster on Feb. 6, he is guaranteed $3 million of next season's $16.5 million salary. But La Canfora reported that the Eagles are not worried about the pseudo-deadline.

New coach Chip Kelly is evaluating the situation and how Vick fits in his spread offense. The Eagles are determining how much they might be willing to pay Vick, if they do ask him to take a pay cut. Vick will not absorb any significant salary cut to remain with the Eagles, sources said, but there could be some wiggle room to work something out.
