Reports: Sandy Hook Elementary School students to perform in Super Bowl XLVII pregame show

Students from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., the site of the worst elementary school massacre in the nation's history, will perform America the Beautiful during the Super Bowl XLVII pregame show, the NFL confirmed to USA Today on Wednesday.

The Danbury News Times reported an anonymous donor has provided money so that as many as 26 members of the Sandy Hook Elementary School choir can perform their nationally acclaimed rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow at the Super Bowl.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA Today the league is flying 26 students and their families to New Orleans later this week prior to their performance.

The NFL has previously supported the Newtown community with moments of silence before games, charitable donations, helmet stickers and personal messages from players on their shoes and gloves.
