The Atlanta Falcons aren't sold on tight end Tony Gonzalez's retirement talk just yet.

General manager Thomas Dimitroff told ESPN.com on Thursday that he has been trying to talk Gonzalez into playing one more season for the team.

"A guy who is 36 catching 100-plus balls (including the postseason), it just doesn’t seem like it’s time for him to move on," Dimitroff told ESPN's Pat Yasinskas.

Gonzalez said toward the end of the season that he was "95 percent" sure he was retiring. He said after the Falcons' NFC Championship game loss to the San Francisco 49ers that he would "probably" retire.

“Tony’s a man and he’s got to make his own decision," Dimitroff said. “Suffice it to say that it’s not going to be an easy decision for him one way or another because he knows that he still has fuel in the tank and it’s very legitimate fuel in the tank."
At 36, Gonzalez remained an extremely productive tight end last season, catching 93 passes for 930 yards and eight touchdowns. The 930 yards put him third among NFL tight ends, and he finished fourth among tight ends with the eight touchdown receptions.
