The Boston Celtics have lost another player for the rest of the season due to injury. According to a tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo! Sports, rookie forward Jared Sullinger will miss the remainder of the season with an unspecified back injury.
Sullinger did not practice with the Celtics on Thursday due to back spasms, and head coach Doc Rivers had previously told reporters that Sullinger was 50-50 to play against the Orlando Magic on Friday night. But now it appears the injury is serious enough to merit missing the remainder of the NBA season.
Sullinger, who was in the midst of a solid rookie season averaging six points and six rebound per game, is the second player the Celtics have lost to a season-ending injury in recent days. The team will be without starting point guard Rajon Rondo after he tore an ACL against the Atlanta Hawks late last week.
