Bears release WR Johnny Knox

The Chicago Bears announced that they have released wide receiver Johnny Knox on the team's official Twitter site. Knox, 26, suffered a serious back injury during a game in December 2011 and required immediate surgery. He was placed on PUP but eventually missed the entire 2012 season.

Knox was drafted by Chicago in the 5th round (140th overall) of the 2009 draft. He averaged 49.2 yards per game and had no touchdowns during his three years with the team.
