NBA All-Star Game likely to be held in NYC in 2015

NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver says it is likely that the 2015 All-Star Game will be held in New York City, either at Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan or at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Silver made those comments Saturday night in Houston before the All-Star Game Festivities, which includes the Slam Dunk Contest, the 3-point Shootout, the Skills Challenge and the Sears Shooting Stars.

"There are two applications in, one from Brooklyn, and one from (Madison Square) Garden," NBA Commissioner David Stern said. "And I think Commissioner Silver is going to have a lot of fun with those applications. I asked him to send me a postcard to tell me how they go."

The last All-Star Game to be held in New York City was in 1998 with the East All-Stars coming away with a 135-114 victory over the West. Chicago Bulls guard Michael Jordan won this third All-Star MVP trophy scoring 23 points, along with having six rebounds, and eight assists.
