Rockets general manager Daryl Morey will remain in the job past next season, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle. Team owner Leslie Alexander told the Chronicle that Morey, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the 2013-2014 season, will receive an extension at some point in the near future which will keep him involved with the Rockets' rebuilding process for another few years.

The Rockets became major players in the NBA offseason, adding guard James Harden, point guard Jeremy Lin, and center Omer Asik as part of the Rockets' rebuilding process. The moves have worked out well so far, as the Rockets currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 29-26 record.
