Saints quarterback Drew Brees: Concussions are still a major issue

The National Football League has said they are doing everything they can to study the problem of concussions and trying to emphasize player safety.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees took a minute of his life while at the beach to address that issue when he was approached by TMZ cameras who asked him about former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau and how he felt about concussions in the league. Seau committed suicide last May and doctors have said his brain showed signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is traced to head injuries.

"I think it's a major issue. It's something that we need to continue to put research [into] and treatment protocols at the forefront to try to find ways to treat guys that have those long-term head and neck injuries when they leave this game. It is definitely a serious problem," Brees said.

He was also asked if he will get another Super Bowl ring before the Chargers and Brees replied, "I hope so."
