Rangers: Marc Staal expected to recover from eye injury, out indefinitely

The New York Rangers said Marc Staal will be out indefinitely but is expected to make a full recovery after being hit near his right eye by a deflected puck Tuesday night.

Staal was examined Wednesday in New York by Dr. Mark Fromer, ophthalmologist, and Dr. Mendel Markowitz, maxillofacial surgeon.

The Rangers reported Staal's injury had improved significantly and both doctors are optimistic that the alternate captain will make a full recovery.
